Scoutmaster Update: September 30, 2016

Karl Young Park service project:

Looks like we should have great weather for our service project Saturday morning. I did a walk-through and the park certainly needs our TLC. I recommend bringing gloves, sunscreen, water, loppers, hedge clippers, bow saws, telescoping pruning saws, and folding chairs if you have some. Three service hours are required for First Class requirement 9d (Bring your book.) If you are going and have not RSVPd, please send me an email asap.

Last chance to register for Webelos Woods

The trip is next weekend, October 7 – 9 but the deadline to register is the start of the next troop meeting.

Sign up here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/troop-11-2016-webelos-woods-registration-28113469143 Be sure to check that your patrol is correct on the form.

There will be a uniform inspection on Monday. We will be the hosts of the entire district event and will host several dens in our own campsite. We need to look the part, with complete class A uniforms. Here is a handy uniform cheat sheet with all the details.

Trail to First Class advancement:
Physical fitness tests at the next troop meeting

We will do physical fitness testing next week (Tenderfoot requirement 6a.) If you did the test four weeks ago bring your log of how you have worked out over the last month. If you haven’t been keeping a log go back and recreate one using your baseball practice, gym period at school, bike riding events with your family or whatever you do to stay active. If you missed part 1 of the test no problem, do the test next week and this will be your part 1 then in another month we will do it again so you can complete the requirement. If you completed part 2 last month you should continue your fitness log for Second Class requirement 7a.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Sean O’Connor
